World premiere of "Being a Musician in 2021"

For the past few months. the MIHS Wind Ensemble has been collaborating with the award winning England-based composer and creator of the YouTube channel "Listening In", Barnaby Martin. This video is the incredible culmination of this experience; explaining the origins of the project, showing what the collaboration looks like, speaks to what it means to be a musician in 2021, and the unveiling of an original piece he created just for our Mercer Island Wind Ensemble, "Circles and Paths".

8th Grade Mini Band Camp

We have found that providing a space and time for our 8th graders to be introduced to Marching Band (and MIHS band student leadership) during a dedicated set of days sets them up for success for the fall.

Plus it is fun!

Save the following dates for our mini-band camp for all 8th graders:

* Friday, June 11th from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. after school (all band students from 8th-11th grade) and

* Saturday, June 12th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (MIHS leads and 8th graders)

Islander Middle School Band Blast

Location: Mercer Island High School Stadium, 9100 SE 42nd St.

IMS band will play in a live concert! It is time to come together, support our IMS student musicians as they share what they've learned this year, and celebrate their hard work.

Band performances are still free, but bear with us as we need to adhere to the Covid protocols for outdoor venues.
