One of the items auctioned off at our annual Band Together auction was an opportunity to perform live on KMIH 88.8, the MIHS radio station. The performance was last week and included 6th graders Anders, Jack, Kaito, Hunter and Jonah. They played "In the Hall of the Mountain King" and it was fantastic. Curious about the pickleball craze sweeping the nation? Meet other Mercer Island Band families and join us at the Mercer Island Country Club for a group pickleball lesson and social event on Saturday June 3rd at 5:00 pm. This party is for all levels and abilities and lessons and gear will be provided by professional racquet sport staff. Party also includes drinks, appetizers, and fun.

The MIHS Jazz Ensemble, in collaboration with our friends at Bothell High School are bringing world class jazz trumpet guest artist Terell Stafford to Seattle for a shared concert at The Triple Door in Seattle! Terell Stafford, acclaimed trumpet player based in New York, has been hailed as “one of the great players of our time, a fabulous trumpet player” by piano legend McCoy Tyner. Stafford is recognized as an incredibly gifted and versatile player, he combines a deep love of melody with his own brand of spirited and adventurous lyricism. Stafford’s exceptionally expressive and well defined musical talent allows him to dance in and around the rich trumpet tradition of his predecessors while making his own inroads.
